We are delighted to invite you to our Carol Service here at Torch House on Wednesday 12th December 2018.

Please do come along and join us at our Sight Loss Friendly Carol Service which will begin at 2pm.

All are welcome to enjoy Christmas worship and praise, followed by mince pies and chance for a chat afterwards.

This Christmastime we would like to offer you a gift! We have partnered with Lifewords to produce large print, braille and audio versions of their popular Christmas booklet ‘OUTSIDE/IN’ – and it’s completely free to receive.

Here’s what Lifewords have to say about this lovely resource: ‘This year let the Christmas story turn your church, your community, even your world, OUTSIDE/IN. OUTSIDE/IN is a beautifully illustrated booklet told from the perspective of Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and sages: outsiders who find themselves included at the very heart of the story. The Christmas story is full of unlikely characters. Those on the edges are drawn to the heart of the action. Everyone is invited in. We hope you’ll join us in finding ways to share that invitation this year – to welcome people in to the good news of the Christmas story.’

TorchTalk is a free service which aims to bring people with sight loss together in fellowship. The groups provide Christian friendship, discussion, prayer, encouragement and fun via telephone conference calls. The groups are open to anyone with sight loss of all faiths or none.

Each Group – usually between 6 to 10 people - seeks to reflect the interests of the people involved. For example, some might prefer a closer look at key Bible passages, others a lighter social Group, and others a Book Group or Prayer Group. Each TorchTalk Group runs either weekly or monthly for up to an hour, with a trained facilitator. Group membership is open to anyone with vision impairment, free of charge (donation appreciated).

Every first Sunday of the month at 3 pm we have a Sunday Service Group, aimed at people who may not be able to get to church.

Call Client Services to register your interest on 01858 438260 or learn more online on our TorchTalk page.

Have you heard of TorchTalk? It's a telephone friendship group service run by Torch Trust and it is completely free to join.

The groups offer blind and partially sighted people the opportunity to share and fellowship with others from the comfort of their own armchair. For example, as part of a TorchTalk Group, a person in London could find themself chatting with folk in Scotland, Cornwall or Norfolk - in fact anywhere in the UK.
